• UNIVERSAL INDEXING HEAD: During milling operations, tasks such as milling square or hexagonal surfaces, gears, splines, and engraving spiral grooves or spherical surfaces are commonly encountered. In such cases, indexing using a universal indexing head becomes necessary.
• WORKING PRINCIPLE: The workpiece is clamped by the chuck on the indexing head's spindle. This allows the workpiece axis to be tilted relative to the milling machine table within a range of 90° upward and 10° downward to achieve the required angle. This enables the machining of grooves, planes, and other features in various orientations.
• INDEXING METHODS: Direct indexing, angular indexing, simple indexing, differential indexing, milling helical gears, milling helical cylindrical gears.
• INDEXING HEAD ROTATION RATIO: The worm gear transmission ratio i = number of worm threads / number of worm wheel teeth = 1/40. This means that when the handle drives the worm gear to rotate one full revolution via a pair of spur gears (transmission ratio 1:1), the worm wheel only drives the spindle to rotate 1/40 of a revolution.
