Demosthenes was written by the French Prime Minister, Georges Clémenceau in 1926 and translated into English the same year by Charles Miner Thompson. Demosthenes was the famous orator who waged a life or death struggle against King Philip II of Macedon, to preserve Greek independence.It's not quite a straight history of the man and his period, nor is it an analysis of his rhetoric, nor is it about a chronicle of the military battles.
